Liquorice
Hundreds of potentially healing substances have been identified in liquorice, including compounds called flavonoids and various plant estrogens (phytoestrogens). The herb's key therapeutic compound is called glycyrrhizin (which is 50 or so times sweeter than sugar). It has a well-documented reputation for healing ulcers. It may lower stomach acid levels, relieve heartburn and indigestion, act as a mild laxative & generally soothe the digestive tract.
